A truck is crashed in to a bull-nose barrier for use in medians to protect cars from overpass columns. The front wood pylons are designed to shear off easily along with several metal ones. The shearing allows the energy of the crash to be transferred into the ground. Cables in the guardrails are designed to keep the car or truck captive and not let it deflect back into traffic. Test was at university's Midwest Roadside Safety Facility at the Lincoln airport. June 5, 2018. Photo by Craig Chandler / University Communication.
