The Atlantic, Iowa, Veterans Color Guard salute the flag as the Ruck Marchers walked through the Atlantic City, Iowa, Park to finish their 21-mile morning section of the march. They walked along Hwy 83 from Adair to Atlantic, Iowa, carrying the Nebraska v. Iowa game ball. The Things They Carry" ruck march involving military and veteran students from Iowa and Nebraska. To raise awareness about veteran suicide, through the week, the students walk in 20-mile shifts carrying 20-pound backpacks to commemorate the estimated 20 veterans who die by suicide each day.
