A sample is taken from a petri dish. Kara Robbins is validating Moraxella bacteria as part of her undergrad research project. She is using a new device called a MALDI-TOF. It uses a laser to vaporize pathogens into ions that can be identified through mass spectrometry. She researches in Professor Dustin Loy's lab. February 16, 2017.
