Wilhelm Sheele

A relief portrait of Wilhelm Sheele, the 18th century chemist who discovered oxygen, adorns a wall on the fourth floor of Hamilton Hall. The portrait of Sheele and Gmelin were saved from UNL’s original chemistry building and now have a place of prominence again. Remodeled organic chemistry labs on Hamilton Hall’s 4th floor.
