Miss Mie has been with the University of Nebraska State Museum since 1929 and was regularly on display at the museum from then until 1975, said Katelyn McMullin, anthropology collection manager. Different conservation practices left the doll's kimono faded, although the original lilac can be seen at the neck and at overlaps in the skirt. McMullin led a group of visitors - students, alumni, staff and visiting scholars - with the Kawasaki Reading Room to see Miss Mie and her accessories in the anthropology collection's archives in advance of her 100th birthday in 2027.
