Reed Strasburg peeks over the edge of his "shield" during a mock battle between the Spartans and Athenians held on the lawn in front of Love Library South. Strasburg, a first-year student, is in Jared Benton's CLAS 245 course, which moved outside for the morning so students could get a practical lesson in ancient Greek military strategy. The Spartans were equipped with shields and pool noodle swords, as well as 50-pound vests, to simulate the weight of armor, while dodging foam golf ball "projectiles" thrown by the Athenians.
