Robert Streubel, Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy, transfers samples in an ultrahigh vacuum before co-evaporating amorphous magnetic films at cryogenic temperatures inside his lab in Jorgensen Hall. He has been awarded a five-year, $849,399 grant from the National Science Foundation’s CAREER program to study how disordered, noncrystalline materials could power the next generation of microelectronics, including computing systems that mimic the human brain.
