Plastic placards denote the species of plants growing throughout the Nebraska Extension Backyard Farmer teaching garden on east campus. Pictured is a sprout of scarlet butterfly salvia, an ode to one of the university's colors. The plant is in the same family as mint and will produce bright red flowers as it grows through the summer.
