Jamie Buhrman sits with her daughter, seven-year-old Stella, in one of the therapy rooms in the Couple and Family Clinic on east campus. Each therapy room has a one-way mirror that allows faculty to observe sessions led by graduate students in Child, Youth and Family Studies, like Buhrman, who is a first-year graduate student. The clinic offers students a lot of experience, said Lauren Fisher, a fellow first-year graduate student seated across from the Buhrmans, and they offer the community affordable therapy on a sliding scale.
