A computer screen shows an image of Thalia Rodgers’ hand and brush as she creates an animation by painting over a live-action scene with a technique called rotoscoping. Rodgers is a student member of a team at Nebraska that is creating an animated film depicting the life of a 19th century enslaved woman who jumped out a third-story window after she had been sold to slave traders for the cotton industry. The story of Anna, a slave who jumped from a window in 1815, is being produced with animation and video techniques by a group led by Michael Burton. April 14, 2017.
