Douglas Schultz (left) and Heather Bouchard peer into the chamber of an MRI machine at the Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior, located within Memorial Stadium. Both from the Department of Psychology and members of CB3 are studying concussions. By working with athletes who recently experienced concussions, the team found that the connections among certain brain regions strengthened even as others weakened — and that these changes correlated with symptoms that often accompany concussions. The findings could help clarify how brain networks respond and reorganize following a concussion. February 21, 2024. Photo by Craig Chandler / University Communication and Marketing.
